What's in a Name?

Something extraordinary happened on April 30.

Six hundred of our closest champions gathered at the Georgia Aquarium: donors, advocates, survivors, and friends who have shown up for this community year after year. Together, we celebrated our agency's work, honored the journey we have taken to get where we are today, and made an announcement: after 40 years, the Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence will have a new name.

Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence is becoming In Safe Company.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle covered the moment and what it means for the thousands of people we serve across metro Atlanta. We invite you to read their article: [link]

Our new name comes from the heart of what we have always done. When survivors of domestic and sexual violence come to us, what they need most is to feel safe and to know they are not alone. In Safe Company puts words to the promise we make to every person who walks through our doors: that you are surrounded, supported, and in the company of people who believe in you. It is not just a name. It is our commitment.

And our Champions for Change gala made clear that this community is ready to take this journey with us. The evening raised more than $750,000 to fund our crisis hotlines, emergency shelter and housing, sexual assault services, legal advocacy, youth prevention programs, DV outreach programming, mental health services, and more. That generosity is what makes it possible to be in someone's corner not just for a night, but for as long as it takes.

Forty years in, we are more committed than ever. The name is new. The promise is the same.

Thank you for being in safe company with us.

It’s inspiring to see how a name can capture not only protection and safety, but also the feeling of community and belonging. That emotional connection is often what helps people feel truly supported, whether in real-life organizations or online spaces built around shared interests like free top games and digital communities.

Names carry weight—they shape identity, perception, and even respect. Choosing or reclaiming a name is more than semantics; it’s about asserting dignity and visibility. Supporting that choice means acknowledging the power behind words and the stories they hold. Just like the precision needed in Slope game, honoring names requires focus and balance—every detail matters when it comes to identity.
