Every Father's Day for the past 25 years, an ad has appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It carries no product to sell and no candidate to support, only names of Atlantas who have chosen, publicly, to stand against domestic and sexual violence and with the survivors in their lives.
This year, we marked that 25th anniversary on our road to becoming In Safe Company: a name that reflects what all of us, together, are working to build: homes, relationships, and communities where every person feels safe, respected, and heard.
The individuals listed in this ad come from different neighborhoods, different backgrounds, and different walks of life. What they share is a willingness to say out loud what too often goes unsaid: that violence is never acceptable, that survivors deserve support, and that the kind of man worth honoring on Father's Day is one who shows up with patience and care.
We are grateful to every donor who contributed to this year's campaign, including those who gave tribute gifts in honor of the nonviolent men in their lives. You made this possible.
Twenty-five years in, we are more convinced than ever: it takes a community to end domestic violence. Thank you for being part of ours.
