Every family deserves a safe, warm place to call home—especially those rebuilding their lives after domestic violence. This holiday season, you can help turn an empty apartment into a true home through Trade the Malls for Walls, WRCDV’s holiday giving program.

Instead of toys or trinkets that will soon be outgrown, you can give something lasting: dishes for family meals, soft bedding for restful nights, lamps to brighten a new beginning. Each family we serve creates a personalized wish list filled with essentials that will make their space feel safe, welcoming, and their own.

You can help in two ways:

  • Cover a few items on a family’s list—every pot, pillow, and shower curtain makes a difference.

  • Sponsor a full wish list with your community group, work department, book club, or Sunday School class. Together, you can outfit an entire home with love and care.

We also ask for gift cards—a simple but powerful way to give moms the freedom to choose what their family needs most, from warm winter coats to holiday gifts for their children. Your generosity ensures survivors not only have the basics, but also the joy of giving to their loved ones during the holidays.

Because at its heart, this program isn’t just about household items. It’s about restoring choice and hope. When survivors can pick out the items that fit their family’s style and needs, they reclaim something trauma often takes away: control over their own lives.

This year, with your help, families in DeKalb County will begin the new year not in fear—but in homes filled with stability, safety, and the promise of brighter days ahead.

Join us. Trade the malls for walls. And give the gift of home.

If you would like to sponsor a family in 2025, please contact Amber at (404) 370-7670 or amber@wrcdv.org. Together, we can make this holiday season one of hope, healing, and new beginnings.
