We’re so grateful to CBS News Atlanta for shining a light on the ways WRCDV helps children heal and thrive after experiencing family violence.

The story features Sherri Banks and her daughter Zhion, who first came to WRCDV in 2018 after leaving an abusive relationship. Sherri shared what it was like to start over with nothing but her daughters and the clothes on her back, and how, through WRCDV, she and her girls found safety, community, and hope.

For Zhion, who was just six years old when they arrived at our safe house, WRCDV’s children’s programming became a place of healing. She joined other kids in counseling, field trips, and creative activities designed to help children rebuild trust, confidence, and stability after trauma.

Thank you, Sherri and Zhion, for sharing your story with such courage—and thank you, CBS News, for helping share our work.
