Each year, the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence acknowledges advocates who work directly on the front lines in their efforts to end domestic violence. The "In the Trenches Award" recognizes one front-line advocate whose advocacy goes beyond the ordinary to demonstrate extraordinary dedication to safety and healing for domestic violence survivors. We are thrilled to celebrate our Chief Program Officer, Barbara Gibson, on receiving this year's award!

For more than 30 years, Barbara has walked alongside DV survivors with deep compassion, offering not only services but sanctuary. From her early days conducting home visits to her leadership in expanding trauma-informed housing and shelter programs, Barbara has always centered resiliency, healing, and survivor voices.
Today, as she guides program development and mentors frontline advocates, her impact continues as she shapes a culture of care that transforms lives across our community. Please join us in honoring Barbara for her unwavering commitment to safety, healing, and empowerment.
