Across Georgia, we are seeing a troubling rise in domestic violence fatalities.

WRCDV’s Chief Program Officer, Barbara Gibson, told 11 Alive: “In the state of Georgia, there has been an uptick in cases of domestic violence and we’ve been very concerned about it. It’s very upsetting.”

Barbara reminded survivors that help can be found, even in unexpected places. Searching hashtags like #hope and #healing can connect people with online communities that offer encouragement and resources.

Advocates stress three critical steps for anyone experiencing abuse:

  • Call a domestic violence hotline.

  • Build a personalized safety plan.

  • Remember: you are not alone.

At WRCDV, we are here to provide safety, support, and hope. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to us 24/7 at 404-688-9436.
