As we step into a new year, we are reflecting with deep gratitude on what our community made possible during the holiday season. A recent story by 11Alive beautifully captured that impact.
Just before Christmas, the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence helped nearly 30 families move into safe, permanent housing. For many survivors, the holidays can be one of the most dangerous and isolating times of the year. Financial stress increases, support systems shrink, and abuse often escalates. Because of donor support and critical housing funding, families were able to enter the season with safety, stability, and hope instead of fear.
The coverage also featured our holiday shopping event, where families were able to choose household essentials for their new homes. This choice-centered, trauma-informed approach restores dignity and autonomy—key elements of healing after abuse—and helps transform empty apartments into places that truly feel like home.
This story is a powerful reminder that when a community comes together, lives change. As we begin a new year, we are profoundly thankful for every donor, partner, and volunteer who made these new beginnings possible. Your generosity turned crisis into opportunity and helped families start the next chapter of their lives in safety and peace.
