The Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence could not serve our community without the continued support of volunteers and interns like you. Thank you for your interest! There are many ways to get involved in our organization. Please visit Programs and read the examples below to learn more about what volunteers and interns do at WRC.
When you're ready, scroll down to How to Apply to begin your application.
How volunteers can help...
Crisis Line Advocate
Hotline advocates answer WRC's 24-hour hotline from our confidentially-located safe house. Advocates screen for admittance to the house, help callers create plans for their safety, offer information about WRC's services, explore resources and provide referrals.
Safe House Advocate
Volunteer positions at the safe house include both direct and indirect service opportunities including infant and toddler care, assisting with children's activities, transportation assistance, providing activities or educational opportunities for guests, one-on-one peer advocacy, and organization of donations.
Volunteers spend quality time with child and teenage safe house guests, developing trusting relationships and modeling healthy interactions with others. Mentors help with homework, play games, supervise art projects, facilitate conversation groups, and chaperone outings. Volunteers can also support our summer camp, Camp PEACE.
Visit & Exchange Monitor
Nia's Place facilitates supervised child visitation and exchanges for families affected by domestic violence. After training, volunteers can monitor these visits and exchanges to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all family members is maintained.
WRC provides free legal support to domestic violence survivors including assistance obtaining Temporary Protective Orders, criminal warrants, child support payments, and child custody arrangements. Volunteers can provide legal support directly to clients and/or assist our Legal Advocacy team with administrative tasks such as data entry and phone screenings.
Community Office Volunteer
Volunteers in our Community Office can assist staff in a variety of ways including administrative duties such as data entry, directing phone calls, and filing. Volunteers can also support Community Outreach efforts by representing WRC at public events, leading education programs, assisting at fundraisers, and more.
